["The Modern China programme is divided into three fields. Language training in modern Chinese (Mandarin) will take up about half of the students' time. Speaking, reading, and writing skills will be developed equally. Several courses deal with methodological topics – basic philological methods and Chinese word processing and data research in the world wide web will be taught. Students will also be introduced to Chinese political science and macroeconomics. Lectures and courses will be offered on a variety of topics, including Chinese history, politics, ecology, media, literature, material culture, modern arts, gender studies, and philosophy. Students may choose from these modules according to their own interests."]
