["The specialisation in ecology provides a deep, scientifically founded and research-oriented education in the fields of ecology and evolution as well as in the phenotypic and molecular diversity of microorganisms in all three domains of life. The students acquire knowledge in evolution and the functioning and significance of biodiversity and learn techniques to investigate and explain spatiotemporal distribution patterns of symbiotic communities and populations. The training employs cutting-edge methods and technologies to address ecological questions and their analysis at different levels. The coursework consists of a series of lectures designed to provide students with an in-depth theoretical background and a set of complementary practical courses aimed at enhancing the students' technical and analytical skills. The Master's thesis helps to develop the students' ability to conduct independent research and to write up and present their scientific results."]
