The combination of business-related and technical courses qualifies graduates for interdisciplinary activities in a company, as they are able to evaluate, organise and optimise processes economically and technically.Students enrolled in the regular study programme Industrial Engineering are members of the same group as the students enrolled in the work-integrated programme. During the lecture-free periods of the fourth and fifth semester, they prepare term papers on topics assigned by the teaching staff. Alternatively, the term papers may be based on work-oriented projects at the university or in companies. During the lecture-free period of the sixth semester, an internship in a company is compulsory.Starting in the non-work-integrated programme and switching to the work-integratedversion later on is possible, as the courses of study are largely identical.Students enrolled in the work-integrated study programme Industrial Engineering are employed by a company at the same time, which is the peculiarity of the work-integrated programme. What’s more, students even receivefinancial remuneration for their employment in the company. Each semester consists of an academic term and a work term. The academic term comprises lectures, seminars and laboratory courses at the university. The subsequent work term takes place in the respective company for which the student is working.
