["In 2016, Fulda University of Applied Sciences (UAS) became the first university of applied sciences in Germany to be awarded the right to confer doctoral degrees in the discipline of social sciences with a specialisation in globalisation, European integration, and interculturality. The interdisciplinary doctoral research centre for social sciences combines the specialist fields of sociology, political science, communication studies, law, and business. The centre is built on a foundation of social science research orientation, theory development, and methodology. Research on socially relevant issues is combined with international and interdisciplinary training."]
