About this course

["Animation and Game is an international and interdisciplinary Bachelor‘s degree programme with a strong practical focus. The project-oriented curriculum is taught in English, and it qualifies students for a career in the international animation, games, media and entertainment industry. Students must choose between two specialisations (it is not possible to apply for both specialisations at the same time):The“Art and Design” specialisationis centred around the creative development and technology-based realisation of innovative animation and game experiences. It integrates artistic methods, practices and theories, digital production technologies as well as producing and production management strategies relevant to the creative development and realisation of animations and games. Students acquire competencies in key areas such as 3D and 2D animation, game design, technical art, character and environment design, narrative design, virtual cinematography, and digital game prototyping as well as creative producing and production management. The “Art and Design” specialisation qualifies students for creative careers in the international animation and game industry, leading to jobs as animation artists, game designers, digital artists, technical artists, FX artists, narrative designers or creative producers.The“Technology” specialisationplaces a focus on the technical development and production of animations and games. It gives a deep insight into the theories and methods of game programming, 3D computer graphics, and technical game design as well as design thinking and production management. Students acquire knowledge in game engines and software architecture as well as game and game systems programming, AI and behaviour programming, technical art, game design, real-time graphics programming, procedural asset generation and tool development for animations and games. The “Technology“ specialisation qualifies students for technology careers in the international animation and game and high-tech industry, e.g. as game programmers, tool programmers, game system designers, technical game designers, technical artists, FX artists or technical project managers."]
