The German language courses are designed within the internationally approved Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Semi-intensive and intensive courses differ in the number of contact hours. The courses will strengthen and expand students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing competence and will reinforce their understanding of German-speaking cultures. Depending on the course level, students will be able to understand the general meaning of newspaper and magazine articles, express a variety of day-to-day needs, and engage in simple conversation. At higher levels, students will be able to talk about the past and the future, make comparisons, and describe people and things in increasing detail. Since cultural knowledge is one of the main aspects of the courses, students will learn a great deal about life in Germany and German-speaking cultures."]
