About this course

["The "Literature" project explores contemporary German literature within a European context. From historical and systematic perspectives, we examine literary texts as media objects, focusing on their aesthetic forms, poetic processes, and cultural contextual conditions. Further topics include the reflection of genre-specific questions and the interplay between literary and non-literary realms, such as discussions of literary texts within socio-historical, social, political, cultural, and intellectual-historical discourses. Literature serves as an important repository for reflecting on questions of belonging in the age of globalisation, touching on themes such as transnational literary relations, world literature, and multilingualism. How can belonging be defined in terms of literary aesthetics? What different functions do imagination and fiction have in processes of globalisation and belonging? Which historical constellations become observable through the analysis of literary texts? Such questions will be reflected upon in the project.Linguistically, the focus will be on communication and developing a confident command of the German language, customised for specific situations. Grammar and technical language aspects will be practised and refined at an advanced level. The course amounts to 25 hours per week (17 hours of general language and eight hours of technical language)."]
